Boston Ujima Project

● Gained knowledge on collective advocacy work and partnerships in the greater Boston area; resulted in partnerships with the Just Reinvestment Fund and the Harvard Prison Divestment Campaign to host a fundraiser raising over $2,000+ dollars while supporting local venues, businesses, coalitions, funds, etc.

● Formulated content for and co-facilitated the Boston Divest/Reinvest Community Meeting/Workshop/Strategy Session which succeeded in creating a better understanding of divestment, reinvestment, and the Just Transition Strategy Framework to partners, funds, and coalitions

● Utilized case studies to highlight past divestment movements; resulted in showcasing the importance of grassroots organizing for the purpose of coming together to reinvest in justice by exemplifying the power of community organizing & centering people and relationships above financial gain

● Attended board meetings to gain a greater understanding of the work being done by coalitions in the Greater Boston Area; long term goal was/is to rewrite the story of Boston by shifting the economy to ultimately generate an ecosystem for change for our Black and Brown communities (i.e. investment funds)

● Collectively worked with other organizations to rewrite the story of Boston through: building community wealth, bridging the gap between economic infrastructure and justice movements to create a new center of gravity in the
economy, democratizing the workplace, & more to generate an ecosystem for change that would "move money into the hands of the people"
